Cenote Diving

Scuba diving Cenotes is one of the most interesting activities you could experience in life.

But what are cenotes anyway? At some point in time, sharks and whales were swimming where we now eat breakfast.

Thousands of years ago, sediments and coral reef started to accumulate and slowly created the Yucatan peninsula. Certain scientist explain Cenotes by a meteorite, other, simply justify it by the ice eras.

Anyway, the sea level went down and exposed the peninsula, leaving it like a gruyere cheese made out of calcareous matter. The porous ground acts as a filter for every rain drop, So, these cheesy looking wholes slowly got filled with water forming the Cenotes.

Known by the Mayas to be the entrance door of Xibalba (the death world), the world’s biggest underground river system lays just under our feet.

Sac Actun – Dos Ojos System is the longest underground river system recently found to connect and run for a total of 215 miles.

Eduardo es un instructor de 10. Atento, paciente y profesional.

Hemos hecho el curso de Open Water y todo ha ido genial. Nos recogieron los 2 días cerca de nuestro hotel ya que estábamos en Playa del Carmen centro. El precio además es el más barato de la zona.

Nous avons fait notre baptême de plongée avec Eduardo, nous avons vraiment passé une super matinée ! Eduardo était top, il nous a donné de supers conseils, était très à l’écoute, nous avons adoré cette plongée en sa compagnie !!

Et nous avons été très chanceux ! À peine dans l’eau et déjà nous voyons une grande raie bleue tachetée de blanc, puis une tortue et un requin nourrice. Ainsi que de beaux coraux et plein de jolis poissons colorés !

What an amazing experience! The sharks are huge and gets super close and it was super unique.

I took this tour off of the star of the sea cruise. I got off the boat at 7:30 and took the 8:30 ferry to playa del Carmen. Lalo picked me up at the terminal and brought me to the dive shop with plenty time to spare. I was by myself on this tour and got a 5 star private tour instead.

We dove down to 25m, spent 23min bottom time and saw tons of unique fish and sharks. They got super close and one even bumped my head! They are all super calm and I felt very safe the whole time.

Une magnifique expérience, en confiance avec Eduardo et Mathieu pour notre baptême de plongée. Nous étions 5 et nous avons tous adoré ! Merci encore, on en a pris plein les yeux !
