PADI Wreck Diver Speciality
Whether it’s a purposely sunken ship to serve as an artificial reef for divers, or the real deal, wrecks are captivating windows into the past. Boats, airplanes, and even cars are fascinating to explore and are typically full of aquatic life. Each dive on a wreck offers an opportunity to discover, decipher a mysteries or spy on something that others have lost.
PADI Wreck Diver specialty is very popular because it offers rewarding adventures while complying with the responsible practices of wreck diving.
Course content: There are many different types of wrecks, some of which are protected by laws that preserve their historical and cultural importance. Your training begins by reviewing guidelines for exploring and respecting wrecks. During four dives, you’ll learn :
- Safety considerations for navigating and exploring wrecks.
- Study and mapping of a wreck.
- Use of reels and penetration lines to aid exploration.
Techniques to avoid stirring up the sediment or damaging the wreck and disturbing its inhabitants.
Includes: 4 dives (2 in Cozumel C 53 sunken ship and 2 in Mama Viña in Playa del Carmen); full equipment (reel, flashlights, compass); PADI Wreck Diver Manual; PADI Certification; transportation (consult if it applies to your area); snacks and water.

Duration: 2 days
Requirements: A minimum age of 16 years; good state of health; not taking flights at least 18 hours after your last dive; PADI Open Water Certification.
